Improve PS3 Slow Download Speeds

PS3 slow download speeds are affecting a lot of PS3 users across the World at the moment. There is no official reason from Sony although many people have their theories. The 2 major theories are that it's either down to the PS3 Store servers being unable to handle the amount of users logging on at one time, whilst the other is more severe blaming the wireless card within the PS3 console.

Regardless of either theory, there are steps you can take to improve your PS3 download speed dramatically if it's taking you hours to download anything from 100MB to 10GB:
Connection Type:
Many people prefer to use the wireless technology they have available these days which of course makes a lot of sense but regardless of how strong your wireless connection is, switching to a wired network will drastically improve speeds. This can be especially effective if the PS3 slow download is due to the wireless card in the console.

Router settings:
If wireless is your only option (which it shouldn't be really), you will need to configure, or at least check your router settings to ensure the correct gaming ports are being allowed access to your console. Commonly, you may access your router via your Default gateway which is an IP address. Usually, it's 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.100
If you are unable to access your router this way, refer to your manual.

Anti-Virus / Firewalls:
Surprisingly, these are the 2 most common things that cause problems for Internet connections in general and for specific applications and hardware such as your PS3. You may need to look over the settings to make sure your PS3 is being given bandwidth access. If you suspect this to be the problem, you can try turning the software off for a small period of time but be warned, this will lead you machine and entire network being left vulnerable to attacks.

Torrent software
Torrent programs and other file sharing software eat up bandwidth like there's no tomorrow. The answer is to simply turn the software off as it will not only give you PS3 slow download issues but it will slow down your browsing too.

In conclusion, a lot of people may find these methods very easy or very hard to do. In fact, a lot of people reading this won't feel the need to try these methods as they already have an Xbox or Wii hooked up to the net and it's downloading at a good rate.

If this is the case, you may wish to try some online services such as VideoPS3Downloads.com or UnlimitedPS3Downloads.com that allow you to download and or stream PS3 media from their sites. They offer unlimited downloads of games, movies, tv shows and music. Some of these companies also let you convert video to make it compatable with the PSP.
